1961 - Pres Kennedy establishes Peace Corps
1966 - Venera 3 becomes 1st manmade object to impact on a planet (Venus)
1969 - Mickey Mantle announces retirement
1970 - End of coml whale hunting in the US
1970 - White govt of Rhodesia declares ind from Britain
1982 - Soviet Venus 13 soft lands on Venus
